MEET THE TEAM
TurfnSurf is so much more than a bunch of surfboards and a building. Our most important asset is our Team. Let us introduce some of them to you…in no particular order
Kate said “no” to a city life and followed her surfing dreams to Bundoran, which is great because we needed to get more women surfing. When she’s not surfing she’s knitting, stitching or making and doing. If you have a make n’ do project Kate’s your woman!
Favourite thing about Bundoran: "Evening surfs as the days are getting longer
The wide availability of, and uses for duct tape, A good stand at the lodge window & the 50c bags of teeth sweets from the American house."
Cork Joe (yes he’s from that other centre of the universe) is great surfer and a formidable man on a SUP. A well-travelled man he always returns, unable to pull himself away from the reefs and beaches of Bundy.
Favourite thing about Bundoran: "northern monkeys, i had never seen them with such great numbers in the wild. The coastline and all the waves along it brought me to bundoran but its the people and the craic that keeps me from leaving."
If you have a problem and no one else can solve it...then you need Nadine! This woman can solve all sorts of problems from lost mattresses to finding out who killed JR. There's more to her than book keeping and making sure the wages are paid.
Favourite thing about Bundoran: "Love that I was born and raised here and get to bring my kids up here. Don't tell anyone my address is now Ballyshannon. And love my job in TurfnSurf. When I started I sat at front desk had lovely view then got sent to back office which was ok the boys used it as changing room so work wasn't so bad. Then you and Killian built my box what more can I say..."
Is he Irish... is he Australian... we may never really know! but we do know one thing, he's great! Dave radiates a lovely sense of calm about the day to day proceedings in the lodge. Working with us as a surf instructor while studying marine biology. With a voice like his, we think he may well be the next David Attenborough.
Favourite thing about Bundoran:
Pauly Paul is a man of style and substance; equally proficient on a wave and on a guitar. We have long since forgiven Paul for being from Cavan and embraced him as our own. An avid surfer he brings a certain air of maturity and gravitas to all his activities.
Favourite thing about Bundoran: Not being in Cavan
Eva is a constant of sanity and calm when all around her may be going a bit crazy about some great swell approaching. Eva has seen it all, being one of our longest standing employees. Hailing from Poland she has tried to teach various staff members her native tongue – with varied results! (Eva wouldn't let us take her photo but we'll convince her yet!)
Favourite thing about Bundoran: "walking on Rougey when it is sunny and warm"
Another ex-“Child Slave” do not be fooled by the quiet and calm exterior, inside he’s an animal of passion and wit. Along with being a surf and Blokart instructor Eanna forms one part of the 3 piece The Vintage Infants who can be found rocking out in the Lodge or around Bundoran.
Favourite thing about Bundoran: "The sun because it's always shining.......ALWAYS!"
Dan's outstanding feature is that he is taller than Killian, which has been difficult for Killian to come to terms with. Dan hails from Mayo and despite living inland was just drawn to the ocean and all things watery. He's a great surf instructor although we think Kate's fish photo is better!
Favourite thing about Bundoran: "It's not Mayo"
Despite coming from the garden county Sean is a great gardener but he’s very handy with both a surfboard and a drill. Sean is a surf instructor who can also drive big things and reverse trailers. A skill lauded my many in TNS.
Favourite thing about Bundoran: "Being a part of the ever growing and amazing TurfnSurf family which is based in this idyllic corner of our beautiful emerald isle, perfect for outdoor adventure! Always something fun to do and great people to do it with!!" (we don't believe this!)
Otherwise known as 'Instructor Dread', he has the best bum on the beach. He's the ray of sunshine about the lodge, and you've not lived until you've had a 30 sec hug from this man. Most likely to be found in his natural habitat of the TurfnSurf Bus, or lurking in the kitchen suspiciously close to the biscuit cupboard.
Favourite thing about Bundoran: Why not ask him!
Our current child-slave has really carved out a niche for himself. Originally called “Not Dillon” since he would never live up to the impeccable standards of Dillon when he was a child slave; Nathan has quietly won us over. You can see him skating to or from Tullan on a message for Killian.
Favourite thing about Bundoran: "My one thing would have to be skating on Rougey walk on a summer evening!"
Coming all the way from the tropics of Sligo, Aaron is the most loveable of rogues. A brilliant surfer coming with a wealth of experience and charm in equal measure.
Favourite thing about Bundoran: Waves, TurfnSurf, the general craic and banter
Blink and you'll miss him. He tells us he's from Keadue, which he proudly states was Ireland's tidiest town in 1993 and 2003. This doesn't surprise us as he may be one of our tidiest staff members. You can take the man out of Keadue...Whether it's running, skating, surfing or just hanging out of things, he's never standing still for too long!
Favourite thing about Bundoran: John O'Doherty, Waterworld and Arantxa Lopez
